We Are Your Emporium hits the street!
March 19th, 2012 | Posted by in MiscOn Monday April 2nd, there will be a brand new venture opening at 89 Micklegate: A social enterprise shop showcasing local, fairtrade and environmentally friendly products. It will have a shop in the front, an art gallery in the middle room, with drop-in chair massages available and a hot-desk office space in the back room, with a backyard for showing off the plants and furniture produced by Brunswick Organic Nurseries and York Disabled Workers Cooperative. There will be other groups providing their wares to sell as well. The shop will be providing a supportive environment for work experience opportunities for people with learning difficulties, disabilities and recovering from mental health issues.
The shop will be participating in the April 5th Street Party that will follow on from the Queen’s visit to the city, after she has passed through Micklegate.
The name will be We Are Your Emporium and it will be open from Monday to Saturday 10 – 4 at first. The social enterprises involved are:
